Characterization of Pseudomonas strains from sinusitis patients
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Sinusitis affects significant percentage of population causing considerable long term morbidity. P.aeruginosa is responsible for about 13% of the sinusitis cases. Pseudomonas produces hemolysin, rhamnolipid, a membrane glycolipid, secretory pigments like pyocyanin and 1hydrophenazine which can reduce ciliary beating and mucociliary clearance. Alginate functions as an adhesion, thereby preventing phagocytosis.

Antibiotic resistance properties and molecular characterization of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains from patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) referred to Gholhak Pathobiology Laboratory in Tehran city during 2016-2018
Background and Objectives: Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from the lungs of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients are often heterogeneous and antibiotic resistant strains. Our work therefore focused on the antibiotic resistance properties of these P. aeruginosa strains isolated from Iranian patients, as well as the genetic diversity analysis by a repetitive-element-based molecular assay. Methods: This ...
متن کاملMolecular characterization of VIM1 isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from cases of sinusitis
Methods This study describes the molecular characterization of 15 Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains, isolated from endoscopic pus specimens, obtained from sinusitis cases. Susceptibility testing was performed by disk diffusion assay. The MIC of ceftazidime was determined by E test. Ceftazidime (CDM) EDTA combined disc test was used to screen for class B b lactamase production. Plasmid DNA extracti...
متن کاملIsolation and characterization of diesel-degrading Pseudomonas strains from diesel-contaminated soils in Iran (Fars province)
In this study, among the 21 diesel-degrading bacteria that were isolated from an oil-polluted area in Fars (Iran), 6 bacterial strains were tested for their capability to metabolize and grow on diesel oil by degrading its hydrocarbons content. The biochemical characteristics and 16S rRNA sequence analysis of diesel-degrading bacteria showed that these strains were related to the genus Pseudomon...

متن کاملPurification and Characterization of Alginate Lyase from Mucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa Strain 214
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that causes a variety of infections in compromised patients. The ability of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to produce chronic infection is based in part on its ability to biosynthesis of biofilm, and alginate is the major polysaccharide in the synthesized biofilm. So alginate degradation is very essential in the dispersion of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bi...
